School Fines
Amberlin Rudnicki
Part 1
In this article they are talking about a charter school in Chicago named Noble Street College Prep that is taking a lot of media attention due to the fact that the parents are upset when their child gets detention for not having their shoes tied and files a complaint to the school. My thoughts on the policy that they have is that it is just ridiculous that they are going to make you go to detention and pay money to them for the simplest of things like not wearing a belt, a button isn’t buttoned, or not having their shoes tied. And from that I believe that the discipline here should be slightly harder than what it is to try and see if that would reduce the number of referrals the school writes. Plus I believe that there isn’t a major problem with the school because we still aren’t the worst school in the country or even the state. So my opinion is that the school in Chicago is pretty much only doing that to make more money for the school and not be in debt and have to sell the school and that it is just plain wrong to have to force the students to follow the rules that they have made up because it is stupid to pay 5$ for not tieing your shoes and this also puts a lot of stress on the families that might have a hard time being able to pay for stupid fines. So in conclusion I think that what that school is doing is wrong and should be stopped.
Part 2
Well for this part I have just looked up three different schools and I believe I will chose one that I found called Quail hollow middle school because of the fact that they are so lenient with their students that they are so relaxed even if they miss a day all they have to do is bring in a note saying why they weren’t there and they will be excused. Plus the other policies that they have are a little easier on the students than the other policies I have seen and the one at this school.  I would think that the hardest one to implement would have to be the school named Seneca high school because of the fact that they have a more adult like approach to it and will treat the students like adults which will be unfair to some of the students because they have either not grown up enough or they act out a lot. Plus the punishments are harder too.
